Daisy McCray is off to the bay with her surfboard in hand, but there’s just one problem - her eyes are glued to her phone. While she scrolls, the tide sneaks in and carries her board away on a wild, magical ride, scooping up beachgoers as it surfs into the wave of the day. Will Daisy look up in time to join the fun?
This playful rhyming story is more than an adventure - it’s a gentle reminder about the joy of being present. Through rhymes and bright illustrations, tamariki are encouraged to notice the world around them, connect with others, and discover the magic waiting beyond their screens. A fun, meaningful story that can spark kōrero (conversations) about technology, balance, and living fully in the moment.
How you might use it:
- Read together at bedtime or storytime to spark chats about screen time and being present
- Use Daisy’s adventure as a gentle way to start family conversations about devices
