Adding a new pēpi to the whānau can bring big changes, and big feelings! Baby on the Way helps children make sense of what’s happening, feel included, and prepare for their new role.
Created in collaboration with psychologists and child development experts, this gentle story helps children understand the changes ahead, and gives parents helpful language to talk about what’s coming.
How this resource supports our tamariki:
Read this story in the months before baby arrives and again after birth. Use it to name the feelings your child might be having - excitement, confusion, frustration, love. It can open up beautiful kōrero and help tamariki feel reassured, connected, and important as the family grows.

How long will it take for my order to arrive?
Due to courier services (at times) being unreliable, we have overestimated delivery timeframes to do our best to ensure your expectations are met.
- Canterbury: 2-4 working days
- South Island: 2-5 working days
- North Island 4-6 working days
Can I return items from my order?
Absolutely!
If for any reason you aren’t happy with your order then please email kiaora@whanaucompass.org.nz, letting us know you’d like to return an item, we will then provide you with a return address for that order and will provide you with a full refund for the item (not including the shipping cost).
We are happy to exchange or refund your items within 30 days of your purchase, provided they can be returned to us in their original packaging and "as new" condition.
The item I want is out of stock. When will it be back?
When an item sells out we aim to get it back in stock as soon as possible. If you'd like us to let you know once it's back, send us an email to kiaora@whanaucompass.org.nz
