Preparing Your Child for a Positive Start to School
Live webinar | OCTOBER 27th - 7:30pm
Starting school is a big transition for children and their whānau. In this webinar, experienced teacher and parent educator Leah Corbett will share simple, evidence-informed ways parents can support their child to feel secure, confident and prepared for this exciting new chapter.
Together we'll explore how you can preview what school will be like, what skills and experiences are helpful to practise before starting, and how connection, predictability and play can support your child through this big change. Leah will also explain self-regulation and why it is so important for children as they navigate the demands of school life.
You’ll leave feeling more confident about how to support your child emotionally and practically, with simple ideas you can use at home to help make the transition into school a positive one.
Leah's book, Starting School: A New Adventure, will also be available to purchase with a discount after the webinar. The story helps children understand and feel more confident about what starting school will be like, with a practical advice section for parents.
